On the more technical side of things, a job posting by BioWare in September suggested that Mass Effect 4 is being built with Unreal Engine 4 instead of EA’s in-house Frostbite Engine - although this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. In the months since the Mass Effect 4 trailer’s first showing at The Game Awards 2020 livestream last December, fans have been speculating on whether or not the new game will address the events of 2017’s divisive Mass Effect Andromeda or feature the unlikely return of original Mass Effect trilogy hero Commander Shepard.
